No. 1 condom in Europe, the Durex technology for pleasure and protection.
Sex, gender, Durex! For your pleasure and comfort, THE condom!
In 1915, an Englishman named LA Jackson founded the London Rubber Company (LRC) in a small flat in London to sell condoms imported from Germany. In 1929, the RSC records the Durex brand, whose name means "Durability", "Reliability", "Excellence" in French Durability, Reliability, Excellence. And not "Sustainable Latex" as the legend tells.
The first Durex condoms made in the 30’s using a new material for the time: the latex in liquid form that can be applied to molds to create a condom. In 1951 the London Rubber Company started the first fully automated production line of condoms. In 1953, LRC engineers are developing the first electronic test condoms, which thus increases the reliability rate.
The Durex brand is the source of many innovations in the field of condom:
After the 2nd World War, Durex has become No. 1 in England, decided to launch in Europe, under the London and Hatu brands. Durex now controls 50% of the European market.
In the US, the brand starts by buying the US manufacturer Julius Schmidt and Sheik and Ramses brands, well-known over there at the time. Today the US is the only market where Durex is not leader.
Durex condoms are sold in over 150 countries worldwide, the brand is No. 1 in over 40 countries, including France and England. In the US, it remains behind Trojan, historical actor. Durex represents more than a quarter of condoms sold worldwide.
The Durex brand is owned by Reckitt Benckiser and society since 2010.
